When I first met this beauty three years ago, our sad hearts recognized each other. We’d both just had babies, were exhausted, and walking through some of the valleys of life. Though we had an incredible time that day, I drove home wondering what hard battles she was fighting that no one knew about. I could sense that she carried the weight of the world.
Fast forward to this last weekend, we met again, and this time she brought along her new husband (who she surprised with a couples shoot!) From the instant I laid my eyes on her, I knew. I knew that true love had found it’s way to her, and I had to hold back tears. Her happiness literally oozed from her pores. The way she looked at him, the way he adored her–I knew their images were going to be electric.
She asked me to fully style their couples session. She said, “I just want to show up. I want this to be your vision. We are game for anything.” I can’t tell you how much fun I had shopping for her couture bra/panty set (which I found at an incredible specialty store in Austin), and then throwing in the jeans/Calvin Klein set for a more casual look.
When it finally came time to photograph them together, it was mesmerizing. From the little inside jokes they had, to the way they would look at each other and break out in smiles–love was in that room, y’all.
I could hardly keep it together when I thought of what these images will mean for them in 10, 20, 30 years. These very moments are what they will remember, long after the little details of life are long forgotten. These images will breathe life back to their memories. These images will stand the very test of time.
If you haven’t yet found true love–the kind that makes you better, the kind that builds you up, the kind that reminds you that you are ENOUGH, the kind that you can roll around in your skivvies with in front of a stranger and laugh endlessly…don’t settle. Stay patient and know that it will find a way.
Love always does.
